comment from Teresa Nielsen Hayden on 26.Jan.04

There's another skiffy detail: Kids These Days are into making rhymed poetry. And then there's that intensely competitive chessplaying style of NYC inner-city youth. When we were drving Ken MacLeod in from the airport -- he'd been on the continent for maybe an hour -- we passed through Harlem, and drove past a basketball court where a bunch of teenagers were packed tight, almost motionless, around one of the Parks Dept.'s reinforced-concrete tables.

"Er. What are they doing?" Ken asked.

"Playing chess," Patrick told him. "It's serious."

Skwid, while this doesn't qualify as phat Nerdcore beats, you may find it amusing.

comment from Skwid on 27.Jan.04

To be honest, it's a blend of nerdcore hip-hop and geek techno.

Current nominee tracks, in semi-random order:

What's Up Spock - The Great Luke Ski
All Your BASS Are Belong to Us - Paradise Decay
Pac-Man - Power-Pill (aka Aphex Twin)
Doctor? - Orbital
Fett's Vette - MC Chris
Yellow Lasers - MC Frontalot
Optimus Rhyme - Dermato Fibro Sarcoma
Speed Racer (Hardcore Mix) - Alpha Team
NerdX - Benchwarmin'
Blackalicious/Cut Chemist - Chemical Calisthenics
Science Genius Girl - Freezepop
Internet Thugs - Artist Unknown (This track is 4:40 seconds long, and if anybody knows the artist, I'd appreciate finding out who it is)
Red Pill, Blue Pill - Junkie XL/Don Davis
Lords of the Rhymes - The Lords of the Rhymes
MC Hawking - Entropy
Baby Got Brak - The Great Luke Ski
Treephort - Death of a Calculator

No telling what the final list will look like. There are several songs that don't quite fit (Like Lint's punk homage to the Wheel of Time), but I would like to see on there somehow.

All songs, BTW, are either on CDs I own, or were available from the artists as a free download; with "Internet Thugs" being an exception in its status as "unknown."

Here's another place to check (though you're probably getting tired of suggestions from hip-ass nerds by this point, but oh well) for stuff that might fit your taste and/or needs:
