I am stunned and amazed to be so feted! Thanks, Teresa, Jax, et al.

One friend explained his failure to provide a birthday card by noting that it's hard to find birthday cards that feature the Missouri sinking...but it was a good day nonetheless. I've always felt a little jealous of my brother, whose birthday is also Jane Austen's and Beethoven's, and only nine days later.

In the spirit of spreading around the joy, Happy Birthday to Laura Mixon and her lovely daughter too.

Apollo 17 launched on 12/7 (not originally intended to; it was the first night launch and holds pushed it to after midnight), Delaware was the first state to adopt the Constitution and did so on 12/7, and it's also Larry Bird's birthday (that was the one I wasn't 100% sure of in advance, since it's also Johnny Bench's birthday).
