Ooh, sounds fun!

If you plan on being in Interior Alaska in March 2008, with a vintage snowmachine, I recommend the Tired Iron competition. The race is why my husband won't let me get rid of his 5 antique machines, he claims he's going to enter "someday".

Me, I'm packing a sled and getting ready to wrangle a newer machine,as we head out into the woods for the next few days. I'm a few days behind on threads and posts.

Yes, my first aid and wilderness kits, with personal additions, are completed. This year the SIL is bringing the two-year-old, that should be interesting.

Happy New Year! Stay warm and safe.

comment from Serge on 31.Dec.07

My 2007 is ending with a bang, it'd seem. About one hour ago, I helped my neighbor lift his Christmas Tree's box to the garage's ceiling. When I heard a loud pop, I thought "Whatever this is, it's not supposed to be happening." That was confirmed one second later when the shattered neon tube rained glass upon me. This, kids, is what happens when you lift something and you don't pay attention to what you're pushing that something against. Got two tiny cuts on my forehead, but the bleeding stopped almost right away. I'm still finding bits of glass in my hair though.

If that was a fluorescent tube, rather than an actual neon one, you should probably get those cuts looked at. The coating on the inside of fluorescent tubes is nasty, nasty stuff, and if any of said coating is in the wounds (teeny bits of glass optional) it's not unlikely that you'll have trouble getting the cuts to heal.

Also, when I touch the nicks, it doesn't feel like there's any foreign body in there and, this being my forehead, should there be anything, there'd be no flesh for it to have burrowed into. By the way, as soon as this whole thing happened, my neighbor gave me a moistened paper towel so that I could clean things up. What with his being an electrician, I'm sure this has happened to him more than once in his life.
