I suppose we did

Ah, 1975, back when we still had pinfeathers and gills. Someone’s posted a couple of photos from TusCon II.

Comments on I suppose we did:

I think I'm glad I don't appear anywhere (even if Janni got snagged).

I loved the original run back in the 1980's. I read the first issue but haven't read the others. I'd like to give it a few more issues to see how it pans out. I miss the Guy Gardner Green Lantern though, wavering personality types and all.

Ain't that the truth, John? Phoenix fandom was a hoot back then.

Whoops.

Excuse me while I move my comment to the proper box above.

*ahem*

#5 ::: Stefan Jones ::: (view all by) ::: August 20, 2003, 05:08 PM:

Don't be sorry. Misplaced comments can add an air of mystery and the surreal to a thread.

#6 ::: Lenny Bailes ::: (view all by) ::: August 21, 2003, 07:17 AM:

I thought the Guy Gardner Green Lantern refused to sleep in the hotel, while Beetle and the Batson family had to run the convention after Maxwell Lord skipped town. But I guess all that came later -- and I wasn't there, I only read about it in fanzines.

He was afraid of catching lesions of super heroes.

Does this mean Kip is the Pun Vortex?

#9 ::: Alan Bostick ::: (view all by) ::: August 21, 2003, 11:55 AM:

How long have you known Kip? How long has it taken you to figure this out?

Snappy fedora on that Patrick guy. Was that a press pass in the hatband?

#11 ::: Tom Whitmore ::: (view all by) ::: August 21, 2003, 03:46 PM:

No, he was just glad to see you....

#12 ::: jupiter ::: (view all by) ::: August 21, 2003, 09:43 PM:

Tom, I'll send you the bill for a new keyboard.

#13 ::: Bruce Arthurs ::: (view all by) ::: August 22, 2003, 01:10 AM:

What a blast from the past! (No pictures of me, for which I'm just as grateful.)

#14 ::: Teresa Nielsen Hayden ::: (view all by) ::: August 22, 2003, 07:28 AM:

Bruce, don't tell me your appearance has changed over the last twenty years?

#15 ::: Bruce Arthurs ::: (view all by) ::: August 22, 2003, 11:31 PM:

Actually I was thinking of photos -from- twenty-plus years ago, that I was grateful weren't included.

I usually think that I've grown into semi-distinguished middle-age, complete with a dashing white streak in my hair (the result of a 13-stitches bike accident in the 80's). A great improvement over my misspent youth, when -- on a good day -- I usually thought of myself as hideous.

(I suspect, though, that I'm at or damn close to the cusp between distinguished middle-age and the long slow slide into wrinkly old geezerhood.)

Seen Gary Farber lately?

#17 ::: Tom Whitmore ::: (view all by) ::: August 23, 2003, 02:11 AM:

The number of people who comment on my looking like Isaac Asimov keeps growing.... I keep saying that I had this look at Noreascon 1 and he decided to copy me because I was doing better with the young women there than he was. The facts are true, the attribution of motive is questionable.

Cheers,
Tom Whitmore (now officially an OldPhart from having chaired a Worldcon)
