Sorry about that. Mostly I’ve been professionally busy, plus I’ve had a few houseguests, and a few health problems, and a few rounds of reconstructing the computer setup. You know how that goes.
Theresa,
Is the ratio of a near-absence to a near-presence closer to the ratio between a near miss and a near hit, or to the ratio between partly sunny and partly cloudy?
Semi-welcome semi-back.
Near-absence makes the heart grow near-fonder.
Near-absence ≠ far-presence?

I was just going to say welcome back and hope you are feeling better, but now that I've seen Jonathan's post, I must crawl away and think of something witty. ;)
Perhaps near-witty would do, under the circumstances?
May the health problems all wind up with a far absence, is all I can think of to say.
Graydon: I'm usually halfway there myself.
Great seeing you yester, TNH.
Curse you, Graydon, for coming up with the quick response. But I have a good excuse for being scatterbrained today. Really. :)
I hope the health problems are, or will soon be, only a memory. Ditto the computer reconstruction (but not the houseguests).
Have you been to see any movies lately?
Just glad to see you back. It's a brain thing.
I need a steady diet of interesting pieces (or particles) and alternative sources don't cut it.
a very happy thanksgiving to both of you.
