All the happiness in the world to he and his husband!

He gave a great, humorous talk, and I felt motivated to get his autograph - which I've never done before for anyone. (And I'm not even a big TOS fan!) He was very nice, and he shook my hand, and he thanked me for my support when I congratulated him.

He's such an awesome guy. I wish him & Brad all the best.

Many years ago he lived in Manhattan Beach (mid-late seventies). A friend, who was a fan, lived in the neighborhood. Takei saw her at a couple of cons he was guest to, and then started noticing her about the neighborhood.

The sort of thing where he'd be in a shop, at a cafe, and she'd walk by, or in. She didn't actually notice him.

One day he stepped out of a cafe and said hello.... asked her if she was stalking him. She said, "Good heavens no! I live up the block."

He treated her to lunch.

For meditation by others wiser than myself:

What's the most useful way I can express my fanboyish elation at this, in a way that lets the world know that Takei's marriage, by simple virtue of its being a wonderful marriage, makes my own marriage yet more wonderful and joyous?

Also, congratulations to George and Brad!

When I was 14 or so I saw George at a rinky-dink local trek con, and ..... hang on. I was going to say something about how the polite, decent, magnanimous, good-natured, intelligent way he treated a little snotty fannish kid has made an impression on me. I was going to say something about how I felt that this adult, this celebrity was actually taking the mental energy to engage my fannishness, my love for the art he had made, rather than doing the bare minimum to make me go away happy. But on reflection, I can't turn this into an adjective in my own anecdote. I do not know an adjective good enough for George Takei. Instead, all I can give is my appreciation, my congratulations, for the happy couple.

Brad, George: I think you deserve every happiness, and may you have them all, even as-yet-unexplored strange new happinesses. Please have all the fun there is exploring them!

Kirk had a small boat he named the Enterprise. On occasion of a party, he saw George Takei, and introduced himself as "Captain Kirk, of the Enterprise". Apparently, George was amused, and took the time to hang out on the boat (and visited again when he came back to DC).

My parents were married about 45 years and in love the whole time. It's a good example to have growing up. I'm glad to see that there's an example out there, live and celebrified, for the gay kids growing up today.

But mostly I'm glad to see two really nice people getting married. I don't know them personally but if you guys vouch for 'em, that's good enough for me.
