Tummelvision explores the art of social engagement in tech, business, and culture, live every Thursday at 7:00-8:30 PST (10:00-11:30 EDT) on twit.tv. It’s short notice, but tonight at 10 PM EDT / 7 PM PDT, Teresa will be there, discussing online moderation, community, and all that jazz, with hosts Kevin Marks and Deborah Schultz.
For those who miss it, I assume there’ll be some kind of downloadable archive; we’ll let you know. (Right now TNH is in the living room, being remotely initiated into the higher mysteries of Skype by their kindly tech.)
Very excited to have Teresa, who gave me the word "Tummler" for this in the first place, on the show.
That's awesome! Twit shows tend to be pretty good. I'll be watching.
Also there is an IRC chat room at irc.twit.tv which we'll keep an eye on during the show if you have comments to add.
rumor has it that teresa will not appear on the show herself.
instead, she'll be depicted by herself, wearing a bear suit.
but to make the disguise complete, it will be an *invisible* bear suit.
how this will be received by the faithful is difficult to say.
Right now (10:05 EDT) I'm seeing a stream of something called "Windows Weekly", not "Tummelvision". Am I looking at the wrong stream, or is the schedule running a bit late?
No one in a bear suit has shown up yet, either.
Evidently they're having Technical Difficulties. Waiting is. Patience is all. Ommmmm.
They play old shows between live ones. It's like a network really for web shows. They must be having trouble getting her in the bear suit.
10:09 EDT - host says "we r running late."
Wa Hoppin to your web page?? Looks quite simple like a bunch of HTML or sum thin. My browser?
Works ok in IE. So som thin wrong with Firefox.
It appears to be now happening.
Dang, that was fun, even though I didn't realize for about twenty minutes that I was visible.
This has been an episode of What Moderators Talk About. To us, it's fascinating.
So, should Teresa have worn a bear suit?
Dave Bell @ #13, She did! Didn't you see it?
TNH - it was very nice to hear your voice.
I wasn't able to stay up for all of it, but at the beginning you referred to the early mimeograph fanzines as "many to many" communication. Didn't the "hand that turned the crank rule the world?" In other words, why wasn't it "one to many"?
I clicked Kevin @3's link on Tummler, and found a wondrous quote:
"have someone there cherishing the conversation, setting the tone, creating a space to speak, and rapidly segregating those intent on damage."
Cherished. Very apt.
I'm looking forward to watching the recording when it becomes available.
Any word on an archived vid for those of us who missed it?
(My excuse: busy sampling beers in Longmont with a friend soon to be moving out of town. Although, considering the venue had wi-fi, it's not much of an excuse. I will go back in time and raise a snifter of Left Hand's Fade To Black Stout in yer honor.)
instead, she'll be depicted by herself, wearing a bear suit.
I know this is a reference to Matt Stone and Trey Parker etc, but I insist on thinking of this as a Alasdair Gray reference.
The video is now available online.

Towards the end, they talk about doing a follow-up episode. Any word as to when that might be?
