This is your annual reminder that applications for the Viable Paradise writer’s workshop close June 15th.
Held annually on Martha’s Vineyard (a place worth visiting even without a workshop), we teach the Really Real Secrets of Writing Commercial Fiction. (That is, how to write stuff that folks want to read.)
It’s a week long, and we do novels as well as short stories. Also, Chili-dog Casserole.
This is an amazing week - entirely doable, even if you, like me, have kids, dogs, parents, jobs, significant others, and other whatnot pulling on your time. Your writing will thank you. You'll connect with other writers. Do it. Apply. The wheels won't come off the cart while you're gone. I promise.
~ Fran, VP XV (2011)
If you're even considering VP, you should apply. Writer summer camp on steroids. One of the hallmark experiences of my writing career.
Some day, gods dammit. Some bloody day.
Not, however, today. Or this year.
Someday... after I get up the guts to submit anything, anywhere.
Janra@5: If you write well enough to keep up in the comment threads of Making Light, then I think it's safe to say that you write well enough to submit to VP (or anywhere else) without embarrassment.
You're making the casserole? Really?
Aw. I feel rich with history.

I don't post much here. It's a little intimidating but I try to remind myself that the folks here really are nice, and I'm trying to post a bit more. I only managed to post that earlier comment by doing so fast enough that I couldn't talk myself out of it.
