Derek, as long as the US maintained resolve, it couldn't possibly
have lost the war. The industrial capacity was far too great. The
US could have scuttled all of its ships in the pacific in 1944 and
still had more ships than japan in 1945.
The US floated 50 CVE's in 43 and 44, to say nothing of the CV's
and CVL's.
