Posted on entry Panhandling for invites ::: October 02, 2009, 05:45 PM:
oooh! if there are any more of those spare invites running around...I've requested one from our overlords, but who knows how long that is going to take.

Yes and no. I know that in my thesis I had a long string of ibids when I was laying the groundwork, in the things you need to have to understand the rest of it. It was a problem because my advisor and the people in the discussion section had no clue about my topic. I just pulled out one of my authoritative sources on Jacobian embroidery stitches and dye sources* and just went about quoting/citing bits, with some explination of why it applied. And we weren't actually supposed to use ibids, but to repeat the cite with the page number change. No combining of citations either.
History/Chicago has moved away from the ibid, and the rest of my group had no issue with this. They were all using more modern sources. *sigh* I am so used to the ibid as the proper form in everything *I* end up using. ;)

The Hollander was what got this discussion going in the first place. Drop me a line would you? I want to get your advice on a few other books in germanic religion.

Sometimes people across the internet can come across the oddest things, which they know someone else needs. And sometimes they go serching.

I think most of the fanbase you've built up are glad you're happy.

Well, schise. The idiocy can stop any time now.

Yeah, you can get Ritalin black on campus. The people you hear about using it most are the ChemEs and the med students. It's evidentally a 'major' problem in residencies at the hospital...where the people can prescribe it to themselves.

It is also one of the very few drugs to control Daddy's ADD. This is going to be a not-fun call here shortly.

Is the new guy going to stay in practice, and if so, can you follow him?

John, that hurt.

And now, I need to go explain to the lab tech that I'm really very sorry I got water all over the keyboard and screen and will he forgive me and not ban me from the labs? *sigh* i should know better than to be drinking anything while reading this blog.

*grins* The Houpelandde pattern works really well.

A recent commission made in this method. The belt has slipped a bit downward, but otherwise, a good example:

Oooh, now I want to go do one for christians. But I'd forget too many of the sub sects.

j h woodyatt--I was reading your post over on the alex rawls thread...Caidan, are we? I was laughing so hard about the crash site being within driving distance from Pennsic...even for Caidans.

This is unfortunatly not the type of thing to be posted to /., as it's the wrong field for them. I saw someone say something about Daily Kos...the other major politcal/legal blogs are where I'd put this. I don't have posting access, but I may have access to people who do.

On the lawyer thing...Teresa, Patrick, I know you guys have a phenomonal network of your own, but if you want me to pull potential names from mine, let me know. Lawyers are one field where I know far too many for my own good.

Another route to think of are your professional associations with lobbyists. You are a reasonably well known editor with a not-small house. If part of your dues go to paying for someone in Washington, why not use them? This effects your work. If I knew anyone on pemoline in real estate (and now that I'm thinking about it, I may. So I will follow this up locally) I'd tell them to go to our NAR lobbyists. And it's another route to try for everyone effected.

Teresa, Patrick, thank you.
