Lori Coulson @ 1063... I can well imagine your reaction. I was a bit older by then and the Bomb would have been a good way to go since the alternative appeared to be a Soylent Green future, with us choking on our own garbage.

Lori Colson... I think Fragano has a point, that "Doctor Strangelove" is a good way to counteract the likes of "Fail Safe".

About the generational gap and the Mutual Assured Destruction...

I wonder how 'kids' react to "Fail Safe", "The Bedford Incident" or "On the Beach".

Speaking of royalty...

Count de Monet: It is said that the people are revolting.
King Louis XVI: You said it! They stink on ice!

What does Montreal's 2017 bid look like? Does it involve some of the folks who ran 2009's worldcon?

beth Meacham @ 274... According to something I read elsewhere, Patrick has a secret agenda. Or maybe it's a hidden agenda. Either way, it's not that secret nor that hidden if people know about it.

Josh Jasper @ 9... no one is hanging Thomas Kincaid in the Louvre

But the Louvre should display Mary Dell's crossover of Kincaid and Lovecraft.

Why does Torgersen's name often find itself misspelled when Correia's doesn't? I guess that's just as well, for the sake of Chick Corea fans.

Bruce E. Durocher II @ 336... Some years back, my wife and I were waiting for a movie to start when two young women and their very young kids sat in the row ahead of us. Sue and I looked at each other and made bets about how long it'd take before they'd leave. Five minutes into del Toro's "The Orphanage", they decided this wasn't going to be Little Orphan Annie.

Will "scifantasy" Frank @ 320...

"I would have cherished you, cared for you. I would have loved you as a father loves his children. Did I ask so much?"
"We've outgrown you. You asked for something we can no longer give."

lorax @ 315... I know. Speaking of the crew's use of laughter to get at the enemy, didn't they also do that in "Who Mourns for Adonais?" ?

Sorry, everybody. I kept saying "Amok Time", when I was thinking "The Naked Time". I blame the lack of coffee. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :-)

chomiji @ 301... the one where Spock is going to get married

I think you're referring to "This Side of Paradise".

"...for the first time in my life... I was happy."
