I managed to wipe out everyone but Madagascar and Greenland (approx. 19 million folks) in less than a year. How is that not a success? In virus terms, at least.
Sure, it's not a win in the game, but this kind of result in real life would be the stuff of horror films, wouldn't it?
There are only a couple of sites at which I read (or contribute) comments, and this is one of them. Otherwise, there's simply too much stupid to bother with.
Thank you all for being so literate and polite!
Someone was recently tell me of a Vietnamese eatery called Pho King.
I'd love to pitch in, but I've been watching "Deadwood" of late, so my sensitivity level is rather high. Or low, depending on your fucking point of view.
The link to POD People in #18 is not spammy, but because the HREF code is mangled, it might wind up looking that way.
Use this one instead: POD People.
I don't think Fred Clark (Slacktivist) would recognize your depiction of him as a "conservative" Christian. Neither would anyone else who has spent some time on his blog reading more than the LB series.
"Second, who uses locally-produced documents for the order of the Mass?"
James, given that funerals often attract irregular attenders and those not familiar with any kind of liturgy, it does not strike me as exceeding strange that a parish might produce a unique program for such a service.
At least in my Anglican experience.
However, given its reported Reader's Digest provenance, I join you in questioning the legitimacy of the story as a whole.
Pardon me if I don't click over to anything at the MBA site. I try not to look delusional thinkers in the eye.
The version of the original "Big Bad John" song I recall was by Jimmy Dean, who later made sausage, which bears some passing resemblance to legislation.
I'm hoping the voice in the commercial isn't the actor Sam Elliot, whom I like too much to think of him associated with this kind of dreck.
I very much liked Matrix. Parts 2 and 3, not so very much. I can still watch the original. The sequels almost destroyed my ability to enjoy it, though. But top-ranked? Uh, no.
And, yes, Firefly deserves to be ranked much higher.
TexAnne #24: Did you have your sounds turned off? There was supposed to be something of an aural nature as well. (I don't have any first-hand experience with clearing the board.)
Torie, I've made it through all levels, too, but I hear there's a special surprise if you manage to get ALL the bubbles in any one level.
When I saw the headline in my RSS reader, I thought perhaps it was Mrs. Reagan's response to the posthumous release of Gerald Ford interviews in which he blamed President Reagan for Jimmy Carter's victory. But no, even better than that!
I've seen one in that popular ribbon shape, all red, white and blue, that says "Just pretend it's all OK."
The corporate masters at the new VVM (who are mostly the masters from the old New Times) aren't interested in being national political players. They're willing to front some investigative reporting, but only on a local level. Thus, strips which focus on national issues aren't likely to make the cut. Count yourself lucky if you live in a city served by an alternative that's not part of this chain.
Link (#8): From what I hear, new FCC regs require not only bleeping offensive words but obscuring the "source" so we can't read lips.
"...the faculty of stopping short, as though by instinct, at the threshold of any dangerous thought. It includes the power of not grasping analogies, of failing to perceive logical errors, of misunderstanding the simplest arguments... and of being bored and repelled by any train of thought which is capable of leading in a heretical direction.... in short, ... protective stupidity."
George Orwell, defining "crimestop" in "1984."
I was going to suggest that if you knew more about the denizens of our beloved state Legislature, this would come as no surprise. But, sadly, this tells you all you need to know about them. Sigh.
I wish I was in space. That way my office mates wouldn't hear me scream in delight.
