Um, speaking of tor.com, you might want to take a look at it. It appears to have been hacked. Most of the home page looks ok, but there's some stuff about "THIS SITE IS HACKED BY PERSIAN HACKER ( THE UNDERTAKER )", and a claim that "SORRY BUT YOUR ALL DATA HAS BEEN DELETED".
(Others might want to avoid viewing tor.com for now; I don't know if just visiting the site can cause problems, but it pays to be careful.)
Speaking of the "only in America" meme:
When Yogi Berra heard that the Lord Mayor of Dublin was Jewish, he supposedly exclaimed, "Only in America!".
Happy birthday!
I don't have the exact reference, but somebody (I think it was an SF editor), on reaching his 50th birthday, said (inexact quote follows), "It's sobering to realize that nearly a quarter of my life may now be over."
Years ago, I ate Thanksgiving dinner at the house of a vegetarian friend. We had what I referred to as "... and all the fixings". At one point her father (who was goodnaturedly skeptical about the whole thing) asked for the salt. There was none on the table. I said, "What, vegetarians don't eat minerals either?"

Looking at these links, I'm reminded of the odd fact that December 1941 was the last time that the United States declared war.
June 1942, actually.
US Declarations of war:
December 8, 1941: Japan
December 11, 1941: Germany, Italy
June 5, 1942: Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania
Many years ago, I came up with something that might be an alternative to disemvowelment. The result is a bit easier to read (which is not always a good thing), and it's easily reversible. I suppose you could call it the Great Vowel Shift Filter. Each vowel is translated to the next vowel in the alphabet, and 'u' is translated back to 'a'.
For Unix-like systems:
tr aeiouAEIOU eiouaEIOUA < infile > outfile
Amusingly, the command still works after you run it through itself.
