Good Lord, Patrick...I don't wish for that even remotely. I just wonder whether this type of thing will build and build until it finally just explodes. I think the general public is either repressing a lot or just doesn't care. My apologies about the perception that I came off as advocating violence. That was not the intention...but how in the world does one fight against the select few that have power when there are situations like this with the voting machines?
This could be my lack of education, but is there some sort of parallel in history that we can draw with the times that we live in today? What would be the historical equivalent of the Bush administration and what did those people do to change the situation?
How much more will the people of the United States put up with before there's some sort of violent rebellion against those in power? I wonder about that. I guess people aren't willing to take that risk for fearing "losing everything." (myself included...I have kids). Still, what happen to student protests? I guess the immigrants have it more together than the left these days...
Nice, Patrick. Is this guy part of that group that wants to name everything after Reagan?
Speaking of cancelled-before-their-time TV shows, I'd love to hear people's thoughts of "Freaks and Geeks" or it's less known sibling, "Undeclared"? Two television classics that, unfortunately, can never be brought back.
BTW, my daughter just said, "Daddy, can I watch TV after I finish playing Hungry Hungry Hippopatamuses."
I don't know if any of you have been following this, but the current U.S. administration has been chastising our Canadian leaders for bringing a bit of anti-U.S. sentiment into our election campaign. Just this week, the U.S. ambassador gave a speech warning our leaders that they were on a "slippery slope". It's typical Bush-Cheney bullying.
Anyway, what's interesting about all of this is that the Globe and Mail has a comment section for articles on their website. My wife and I were observing the comments regarding the article about the U.S. ambassador's speech, and noticed that 90% of the comments (even from conservative readers) were pro-Canada, anti-U.S., with most saying that the U.S. should stay out of our business.
Then, almost like clockwork, the comments turned pro-U.S., as if some of the wingnuts heard that there was some U.S. bashing going on up here and organized the troops to come up and do some rah-rah in a foreign country (much like that Pentagon document from yesterday). Anyway, I find it interesting how the right wing is skilled at spreading this thought virus.
So, if you get the chance, go visit the Globe and Mail and read some of the comments regarding this issue. See if you can notice when, exactly, the right-wingers start to venture into the fray.
The article is here.
I can't believe Ari Fleischer is REALLY posting on this blog! You've hit the big time, Teresa and Patrick! Next thing you know, Scott McClellen will be here to defend himself. Then, it'll be George Bush Jr., himself.
Haha...Jason wrote "bush league". George Bush! Get it? That IS a "Bush League" tactic. haha. Man, that's funny. So, so very funny.
Have you noticed that there's always a strange stench lurking around when certain people come around to "defend" themselves? Kind of like the stench in Teresa's basement.
Every day I find a new reason that I'm not living in my home state of Oklahoma. NOT ONE, BUT TWO! The shame...THE SHAME!!
Wait, what's so funny? I read the article over and over again and I don't see what's so funny. Am I missing something? Is there some sort of ironic twist to this? I read it and read it and I don't see any ironic twist. It's all so...real.
Is it sad that I know all of the "creators" listed, but have never read the book in question? Oh, to be a member of that seventies generation that knows more about pop culture than religion is to live in blissful ignorance...
