I can actually empathize with the host.. I've had to field the
kinds of calls she probably got, and they can be extremely ugly. A
small host could easily either panic or simply decide the site
isn't worth the hassle, especially if the person on the other end
sounds just kooky enough to try to make good on their threats.
It was definitely a horrible overreaction, however. I certaintly
hope they can find new hosting quickly.
