Teresa, I posted some links above I just suck at code. Also add this one:
http://sucrelefey.livejournal.com/100420.html
As with most of the old family recipes they are ingredient lists with the assumption you know the correct methods.
And I find pork cake is just really gross, Mamere just used straight lard instead of rendering her own salt pork.

#95, Magenta I have a basic gingerbread here:
http://sucrelefey.livejournal.com/825.html middle recipe. I'll hunt around for the other ones and add to my general list when the time comes here:

"I don't recognize most of what's sold as mincemeat (it's what, oxidized applesauce and guar gum?) these days."
If you're lucky. Some even put lard in to give you a 'meat' effect.

If someone wants to go on an adventure and play with these recipes by all means, go have fun.

#45, Alsafi, I could post my maritimer dark fruit cake in my journal and link you up. It's like a molasses gingerbread pound cake crammed with stuff. It does not come with the aging instructions though.
I also have a white fruitcake recipe of the region and half a dozen of not really fruitcake but close alternatives.

My mother in law makes a beautiful English fruit cake, white soaked in sherry. Starts it in August in November it gets sealed in marzipan and royal icing.

Can we add the horror of modern mincemeat to this, as it suffers the same fate, starting with the whole "Where's the meat?" issue.

I think the sadder point in all this border security is those expensive new high tech passports can be easily hacked, mined, faked, damaged and copied as shown in many articles; but we are all stuck with them anyways because heaven forbid the government admit they chose wrong.

I find nothing wrong with the text format. I can read the prose with no issues. My eyes and brain are fine with this. I might like a better colour background contrast from the gray but not the starkness of white.

I have ocasional problems with the linkage and page loading but that is something else. I would prefer less manual inserting of tag codes in comments but oh well it forces me to practice.

Out of curiosity, do you happen to know if heat exhaustion can have an effect on a person's vision?

I just found out today that heat and dry makes for blurry vision and thobbing eye twitches. Had to pull over and bury my face in a cold wet cloth to sooth the agony. My eyeballs felt rather sticky, don't know any other way to describe it.

I had my own risk situation the other day highway driving in a dry canyon. When I can no longer taste the salt on my chips something is out of balance.

A note regarding pets.
Take 30 seconds too do a walk around your vehicle before driving off to see if any desperate pets are hanging out next to the wheels and the sparse shade you car casts. And leave you furry darlings at home not in the car no matter how big and sad their eyes are.

Always keep a bottle of water(under the seat is probably the coolest location) in the car and a bag of salty snacks in the glove compartment. You just never know when or for how long you are going to get stuck waiting on a road, traffic, acidents, construction.

There are small amounts of all the minerals in nuts and seeds along with the rest of the plant starter package that they are.
Other high potassium stuff is avacados, legumes, kale and other cruiferous(cabbage turnip families) veggies

Damn now I want a linen parasol with nice brush work painted on.

Posted on entry Heat Stress ::: July 28, 2006, 03:49 PM:
The parasole should come back in fasion soon. Nothing like portable shade.

Xopher, beans and flax have far more potassium than pumpkin seeds. How are you for other tree nuts like hazelnut, walnut, pecans, chestnuts. A good roast mix.
Make yourself a custom trail mix of seeds and nuts and the few low carb dry fruits like unsweeten cranberries, blueberries are high potassium only 40calories in a cup of fresh.

Xoper, combine the salted nuts with roasted shelled seeds like pumpkin and sunflower and sesseme. Or find those square german iron ration sassages forgotten the name but like really chewy pepperoni that is safe without refridgeration or a good jerky.
You could just put some pickels in a zip baggie.

Peter, perhaps Felix Leiter is a designation not a name like 007. All agents assigned to that department will be named Felix. ;)

Ceri, if the wild roses have already established their woody crowns they will cohabitate with the mint.
Designer mints like chocolate mint are slower to spread and whussier with more shallow roots/runners but they do smell like After'Eights when mowed.

Pennyroyal, from the mint family but more pest repelant.

Which mint? Some are more robust than others. Plain old spear mint and horsemint and bog mint are tough. Peppermint or any of the fancy mints are tender.
Lemon balm falls into the invade if happy group.

Sorry about that both buggy computer and brain.

I know reader confusion between fanfic and canon happens because I've seen mention of it on various message boards usually amoung younger readers or if it involves a non mainstream work. Do not know if anyone has had the urge to go up to the author and ask for clarification. You could always poll authors at one of their associations.

Some authors do get complaints and petetions and boycots from more reality challanged fans when the characters don't go the way the fans envisioned. They also tend to be the fans who most obsesivly write the "my way is better" fanfic. Certain Harry Potter fans are the most recent example. Sometimes new readers get exosed to fanfic before the book and get the wrong expectations on what the stories are about. That may influence whether they pick up the book later but hard to prove or disprove.
