I used a Mio c320 to navigate from Northeastern CT to the (amazing) Museum of Bad Art in Dedham, then to an apartment in Roxbury. No problems, no other navigation used. It was amazing. The Mio is amazingly fast at recalculating, and getting signal, and managed to extrapolate my position through the Big Dig on the way home.
This summer I took the train from Spokane, WA to Springfield, MA. Leaving at 1:15 am on Tuesday, arriving early Thursday morning, or at least that is what the ticket said. We finally left Spokane, at 3:00 am, and I arrived in New London, CT at 6 am on Saturday, after an unplanned overnight in Chicago, and a detour through Washington, DC.
Fortunately for me, before I left, I made a raid on a bunch of used bookstores, and packed my own food. After almost a week of beer, mead and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, I was ready for a change for a change of pace.
In college, at least, a large portion of libertarians are best described as "pot-smoking Republicans".
Here in the U of Connecticut area, we either go to the Vernon diner which is what you expect, or some one of the 2 that just opened and I've never been to. For those of you in the inland northwest, I recommend the milk bottle in the garland district of Spokane. Just look for a giant milk bottle, and walk inside.
I type this from a hotel in chicago, because my amtrak train east, the lakeshore limited, was canceled due to extensive flooding of rail lines. They say we may be here tomorrow, too.
I treated to a rousing version of "The Marine Corps Hymn" sung to the tune of "ghost rider in the sky", as sung by Jim Macdonald. It really made my literature class.
I think this is my first comment, but I'll be there.
