As someone who has been published in Ray Gun Revival, this fills me with a certain amount of sorrow. Here I am, trying to play the writing game by working my way up through the smaller press ... and then this.

I realize this may have been in error, as explained in Mr. Capobianco's post, but it's still disheartening. Regardless of whom or what is at fault, SFWA is supposed to be an organization that protects writers. I'm not a member, and now I probably never will be.

Drat. Jim, you will be missed.

Good luck to Jim Baen, a man I don't know personally but who has had a major influence on writing and reading. I hope he is well soon.

Unfortunately, many folks aren't aware of their rights, especially concerning the police and attorneys.
I've known more than one defense attorney who has told me to never allow a police officer to search your vehicle, yourself or your home without a warrant. Even if they threaten to get the warrant, make them do it. Even if you have nothing to hide and have done nothing unlawful, make them get the warrant. More than likely they won't unless they think they've really got a suspect in you.
But I'm in Ohio. Things could be different in NYC and elsewhere, but I doubt it.

This is awful. I hope AW finds a home soon.

Paula, nowadays in D&D you're dead at negative 10 hit points. At 0 HP you're just knocked unconscious and basically start bleeding until you reach negative 10 or another player character comes to your aid.
