On one hand, I'm glad the Internet is not so locked down -- yet -- that anonymous activity is completely impossible. It scares me to think of the draconian measures that would be needed to truly nail down who's who.
But on the other hand, if people didn't have this feeling of anonymity, they wouldn't be tempted to do stupid, assholic shit like posting threats against someone's dog. You learn SO much about a person from what he chooses to do when he thinks he's anonymous.
Wow, someone still uses Word Pro and remembers Ami Pro! I salute you, John M. Ford! I was a software tester for those products for more than four years, and to this day, there are things Word Pro can do that other products can't do nearly as well. If I still had a copy of Word Pro (I prefer the 97 and Millennium editions), I'd be using them today. I wonder if they still sell them?
I never realized that the same songwriter did "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and "Making Love Out of Nothing At All." Thanks for the tip. It explains a lot!
The part I never would've seen coming is the fact that he wrote for Sisters of Mercy. Now if we removed Andrew Eldritch's über-Goth voice from "This Corrosion" and substituted Russell Hitchcock's tenor instead, would the song be recognizable as a Steinman piece? :-)
I can understand most of the costumes -- shirt and tie, choir robes, sports gear, even the cheesy leather jacket stuff -- but what the hell was up with the loincloths? What kind of private school was this supposed to be? ;-)
