Heh, we're the same way about comic book refs. Alas, we don't really share blog-reading (Rob has little patience even for my blogarounds, for instance), so we can't share those in-jokes...
Posted on entry The Rather Difficult Font Game ::: April 25, 2008, 09:03 AM:
Only 12, but I don't play with fonts as often as I used to back when they came on sheets you pressed down onto the paper.
Posted on entry A book by its cover ::: April 12, 2008, 07:03 AM:
Oh, that would have totally won a NY Book Show award, it's the kind of thing the Bookbinders Guild really liked to see back when I was handling the entries...
Posted on entry Hugo! ::: September 01, 2007, 09:14 AM:
Congratulations, Patrick!

Cool, I didn't know you were the moderator!

Although I'm married to an Englishman, I first encountered "whinge" on blogs. I think it's one of those words that bloggers feel is more fun to type than "whine," it seems to give things an extra kick, particularly when liberal political bloggers are complaining about right-wing bloggers (the full-time whinging hobby of some).

"Know all men"? All "MEN"??

Sheesh. :)

It's peachy, Teresa, I'll definitely be linking to it and possibly posting it on my almost-always-sans-comments blog...

All this just makes me even happier that my blog seems to fly under most people's radar.
Posted on entry A monthly family budget ::: July 19, 2006, 05:23 PM:
$7000 for monthly rent? Good lord, do they rent a mansion or something?

I don't know what the French or Italian football songs are, but there was one melody I kept hearing during Sunday's game that started out sounding like Vindaloo and ended up sounding like My Darling Clementine, which actually worked well in the venue. Therefore, I personally think writers or bloggers or even the MLS should put new words to the tune of My Darling Clementine and sing it at games (or blogger gatherings).

Vindaloo Day for me was July 1. Here's the post in question.
Posted on entry Grease Monkey ::: May 23, 2006, 03:19 PM:
Oops, I just reread. You've edited this one, then. :) Is it a collection? If so, I think I have all the originals from when they first came out...

Cool! I had no idea you'd written graphic novels! I'll have to put this one on order from Midtown. What's your first GN? Is it still available?
Posted on entry Happy birthday ::: March 21, 2006, 07:47 AM:
Happy birthday, Teresa!

If you've been schlepping all the way up to White Plains, would you consider schlepping a little less, to Mamaroneck? I did the same Google search you did and the first name that came up is an ENT guy I've met whom my boss' family has been seeing who seems very impressive...

Part of me thinks it's very clever, and part of me thinks it says more about the speaker's cleverness than anything else.
Posted on entry New York subway searches ::: July 31, 2005, 12:08 AM:
I wonder how many NY'ers have figured out that the easiest way to avoid being checked is not to carry those stupid, overbearing, rude backpacks around in the first place. Those riders who've been swiped repeatedly by careless backpack-wearers (a relatively new phenomenon, about as recent as ubiquitous cell phones) may not be happy about the Fourth Amendment issues, but we're not all that upset that backpacks are the target...
Posted on entry More London Tube bombings ::: July 21, 2005, 11:56 AM:
Nail BOMB, sorry. Not nail gun. Shouldn't type blog comments right after going to Home Depot...
Posted on entry More London Tube bombings ::: July 21, 2005, 11:55 AM:
Daily Mirror and BBC websites highly recommended for keeping up with the unfolding story. Apparently one of the things that detonated was a nail gun, which my British husband informs me was a tool often used by the IRA.

Now you see, this is why I get bummed sometimes that I no longer work in Manhattan...
