I like your post. One thing I would correct, though:

The 1611 King James Version was slightly different in spelling than the King James Version that people use today. I forget when they re-did the KJV, but the differences are quite noticeable.

One of the common differences I've seen between the 1611 and the later KJV, is certain letters have been replaced by others. A good example of this is the letter 'u' in the 1611 where the more modern version would use a 'v'. Also, a 'j' where an 'i' should go, and vice-versa, and an 'f' instead of an 's'.

Of course these are just general observations, and I mean nothing bad by them. I just thought it would be interesting to point out the differences between the 1611 KJV and the later one.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. :)

I wonder what all else McCain wants to do with freedom of speech?

Whatever happened to the idea of 'Freedom of the Press'? I could have sworn it was a Constitutional Amendment or something to that effect.

Now I think I understand why I don't much care for the man. If he wants to take away freedom from bloggers, whose freedom will he want to take away next?

I do not like this guy at all, now.

Faren at Post #47: "No, I wasn't serious, but it's intriguing to imagine a God fed up with conservative blather who decides to initiate some kind of Second Coming this way!"

A lot of the conservative blather you're referring to, is one of the reasons I left the conservative way of thinking behind. There was a time I would have held to the conservative viewpoint, but they have become so far gone, that they do not make any sense any more to me.

There was a person on AW whose avatar said, "Liberal Christian is not an oxymoron". Well, looking at some conservatives' attitudes toward living the life they preach we should live, I sometimes wonder if 'Conservative Christian' is becoming more of an oxymoron as time goes by.

BTW, I liked your second coming analogy. I thought it was pretty cool.

I honestly do not see what all the fuss is about. So a lesbian couple has a baby. Why is that so horrible?

I wish more so-called Christians and concerned citizens would stop focusing on the so-called sins of other people, and focus instead upon what they themselves are doing.

How does that old saying in the Bible go? Something about, "He that is without sin, let him cast the first stone"? Why don't more so-called Christians apply that to their own lives and stop trying to make everyone else look bad?

I'm sorry. I'm just floored by the idea that this kind of thing is causing such a stir. Surely there are more concerning things to think about than a lesbian couple having a baby.

This bothers me a bundle. I do not understand how Rumsfeld can think he should not be held accountable for his own actions. This is especially distressing to me, because this man was a leader in a nation that has condemned those who use the very tactics he seems to be advocating.

The word 'hypocrite' comes to my mind. He obviously knows torturing people is wrong, and yet he is apparently not willing to be held accountable for his own support of this wrongdoing.

I sincerely hope that he is brought to justice. If he is so adamant that a lawsuit against him is going to keep him from his duty, then it is obvious to me he knows that these people have a case against him.

I do hope that he does not get his way.

Oooh, man! I never realized how dangerous this man really is. Reading this almost sent chills down my spine. As a moderate-conservative, I'm blown away by just how fanatical this man seems to be insofar as his views on human liberties are concerned.

In a country that relishes its individual freedoms, why in the world does such a man rise to prominence and then spew forth such hateful things about fundamental tenets of our society?

This is some scary stuff, to be sure.

(#50)The same people? Are you sure?

I think you fully well what I'm saying, Sir. A number of prominent right-wing individuals are constantly referring to people like the blogger in question as 'Wackos'.

My beef was not with any one person; my beef was with a mentality. When I see people within the Right-Wing refer to Left-Wing activists as 'Wackos', I kind of expect that Right-Wing activists are not going to resort to threats and violence to get their point across. Such threats and violence would be considered, by a number of people, the kind of action 'wackos' would use.

I do not claim to know even who the person is that made this threat. It's the mentality that "It's okay for me to act like a complete idiot, but you had better not" that I have a problem with.

I apologize if I was not clear enough in my previous post, but no, it is the mentality of this whole situation that I find distasteful and repulsive.

What amazes me about this whole situation is that I have heard conservatives, for years, calling environmentalists 'wackos' (sp?) and stuff like that.

Then the same people who call someone crazy for their views, goes and threatens to kill someone's dog, because they are open about those views.

Up until this time, I've never read the blog in question; I looked at the essay, and am just blown away. The fact that people are willing to harass and threaten other human beings, and threaten a dog, to get a point across, scares me.

I don't claim to know a lot about this whole situation, but I do claim to know that threatening an animal over their owner's viewpoints is wrong. I hope whomever did this gets caught....and prosecuted.

I never quite thought of the homeland security stuff before, like you mentioned it here. What you said makes good sense. It also makes me wish I had never voted the way I did several years ago.
