Could it be any more obvious that Kirk was cheating between not even trying a poker face and the simulation reboots in the middle of the scenario you need to be pretty thick as a test evaluator to not put two and two together.

"That show really has quite a few messes to answer for."

No kidding. The 30 year old comic was way more plausible.

Laura 188,

Since canon is out the window anyways, I had the Star Trek comics and they gave the back story of the mirror universe divergence point being that Earth lost the sublight war with Romulans and was occupied territory. It took a full uprising for freedom followed by a, never again; we will be the conquers from now on pledge.

I just outed myself as a particular type of geek haven't I?

I am not very forgiving of reboots that are no more than teenagers taking the parents car after pleading "Yes we will be careful, promise." only to go off somewhere get drunk and do doughnuts in a parking lot while hooting and hollering.

I think Harper is trying to con us over Christmas that he is right and the opposition is wrong so if the election option is used after the non confidence vote he's more likely to get a real majority at the polls.
Or he wants the time to pull a few distracting shinnies out of his ass to make the opposition look bad and have us voters go "what issues?"
Maybe he needs to time to go through the yellow pages for cheap assassins.

I just came across another term that might come up in this, withdrawing supply. Commons can close the purse to Harper.

Well Tories or their supporters are already started the divide and conquer phase with comments in discussions that the coalition will steal away and squander Alberta's oil wealth. Predictable in their tantrums.

I'm wondering if the provincial premiers are gonna get their fingers involved in this.

There's talk that Harper might decide to be a dirty cheat and try to prorogue Parliament.
This could get nasty.
Posted on entry Our Exciting Neighbor to the North ::: December 01, 2008, 09:38 PM:
It wouldn't have been necessary if the Tories or more specifically Harperites themselves hadn't been such corrupt 2 faced skeevy twits. But yes unlike Americans we do not have to wait four years to change leadership. If the collation works then Mr. SweaterVest is going to get eaten alive by his own party.

I think I stuck a hagis recipe post around here somewhere.
Possibly mincemeat to.

I have seen some folks sub cranberries for cherries in fruitcake due to allergies.

I just saw a dire panic "they are destroying our copyright sign this petition" post regarding the US orphan works bill 2008 flavour(s 2913). Is there a neutral breakdown of it somewhere?

The more I see of your system the more I swear I will never bad mouth Elections Canada again(voter cards have already arrived in the mail). I feel really sorry for you guys.

Another reason why some people will not evacuate. Turns out some employers are firing people for not appearing back to work immediately after the hurricane. I know of some people who had to work on the very day even though they are not essential services or else loose their jobs.

I default to Times Roman for just about everything unless I'm doing some artistic work like the Shelly Allegro & Caslon Open Face for our former florist business advertising.
I would like more high quality fonts but they are overpriced. $165 for a font in 4 variations is an obscene dollar to byte ratio.
I do have a copy of the American Type Founders Cut Book 1900 edition that I will some day scan for the illustrated capitals which are just so gorgeous. Waverly series is my favourite with all the leaf vine filigree.

Tlonista,

I can't remember the exact name of it but the alcohol intolerance is a genetic thing; it is most common in Asian populations but dose occur in all groups. As I understand it one of the byproducts of your liver processing alcohol out is the culprit and while that compound is in the bloodstream it causes the reaction and the bodies tolerance level for it can be high or super sensitive; some people are even allergic to it.
Many Asian populations have not had the type of food supplies that lead to plentiful supplies of booze until more recent history. It takes a lot of generations for a population to evolve the biology to handle some substances as many First Nations groups demonstrate.

Lee,

Having done the food poisoning non stop purge you just keep taking water in. If anything it dilutes the pain of the acids and bile but some will still find it's way into the system in the first few seconds. Sipping slowly tepid water with a little salt in it helps. Just have a really large bucket next to you or sit next to the tub.

Language Hat,
Metafilter gives me a bad impression every time and I will throw what ever stones I like at it. You being a preachy elitist at me does nothing positive.

Meta filter trikes me as being too much like school kids bickering at each other over their guesses about what the parents are discussing with teachers in the office.

Our ground beef comes off the family farm and is often too lean but bacon drippings mixed in takes care of that.
