Dan @ #340 -
I saw the 300 this past weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it - this despite agreeing with everything PNH has said on this thread.
It helps that ancient greek history is not one of my strong suits; not that I don't know how anachronistic/wacky the stuff in the movie is, but that I am able to "read" the entire film as complete fantasy.
Conversely,"Elizabeth" made me pig-biting mad, and upcoming "Golden Age" promises to once again squander wonderful cast and costume by ruining the story - at least that's my experience, being an aficionado of late Tudor England.
If you are able to view the film as completely make-believe with no connection to the real world, and don't mind feeling like you're spending two hours in the middle of a Boris Vallejo painting you will probably enjoy it.

I don't know - "spider eating man-bitch" sounds about right for the pres....
(man, am I going to get my e-mail watched or what!)
I believe I read in an interview with one of the creators of Barnyard that the rationale for giving the bulls udders was that "udders are funny". I suppose that had they done a live-action film, there'd be a lot of boob jokes (5 lb four sacks anyone?) because "boobies are funny". Why it's so high-larious I can't help myself. Of course I'm sure it never occured to them to make the owners of the udders the gender-correct Cows, because how could you write a comedy script with women and keep it from being about nekkid-sexy-lady-cows?
I swear, sometimes nothing makes me feel like a humorless old fart more than reading about The Industry that employs me.
Not to mention that even people who can afford the astronomical premium and/or deduction are being turned down by private insurers for such expensive and life-threatening maladies as heartburn (acid reflux), athsma, ear infections and allergies.
If I were a theist, I'd thank the gods every day for my new union job with benefits; otherwise my easily maintained thyroid condition ($10 for a generic scrip, even without insurance) and my garden-variety fatness (see aforementioned thyroid condition; BP, cholesterol and blood sugar all just peachy) would surely keep me from insurance, and I'd never be able to pay the hugely inflated costs on the bill for anything beyond a strep test.
