Re #53 - People who film the rape of 7yos - or any other age, right down to newborn - being rarer than terrorists? I wish. Oh, how I wish.

Roughly half of my cases involve child porn. I've seen computers with up to 40 Gigs of it, neatly categorized by sex act and participants. Photos, movies... I've read the email of predators swapping tips on how to get parents to trust them with their kids. I've read the careful negotiations to trade a pregnant 'slave' for a used pickup truck. Part of the deal included sex rights to the unborn child. I've seen the logs of a molest-on-demand webcam show.

So no, it's not rare. It's so not-rare it's frightening.

Re #39 & 43 - Both of you are perfectly right. I sometimes forget that because of my work (computer crime) I automatically filter 'porn' as meaning the hardest of hardcore and most far out kink. Those sites tend to charge rather expensive membership fees.

I really don't see that this will make all that much difference. Porn sites aren't going to stop asking for a credit card number because that's what they are there for - to make money.

For band names, I was always fond of "Boots Randolph and the Carroll County Car Strippers."

He did answer the question about why he selected them... sort of. He said that he sent out submissions and PA was the first to get back to him. Simple as that.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that our 'hostage crisis' is nearly over. I want to add my thanks to ML for broadcasting the news about AW, and to Jenna and all her helpers for the tremendous amount of work that they have done. Roger's refugee camp is nice, but it just isn't home!

They might also consider contacting their state's law enforcement agency. Laws vary from state to state, but here a person is breaking Florida law if either the suspect or the victim is in Florida. So a Florida AW member who lost work could try contacting FDLE. Granted, intellectual property is more a Federal matter, but it's another avenue to explore.

Wow, I've seen more than three people banned at AW, and I've only been there since March.

And to JamesC - at the top of this thread, I refered to Stephanie as a PA author. It seems I was in error, but as Uncle Jim pointed out, I couldn't very well check, now could I? I apologize for calling her a PA author, since I now realize that that is an insult to PA authors everywhere. Happy now?

Last night when I tried to go to AW I got an "exceeds bandwidth" message. I figured some PAer finally went rabid and started a Denial of Service attack. Given that a PA author pulled the plug, I was more right than I knew.

I have to be honest, as a long time Floridian, I'm kind of puzzled about all the stuff dumped on FEMA's door. Until Katrina, everyone I know considered FEMA to just be the people who showed up a week after the storm with a stack of paperwork for you to fill out so that hopefully the government would pay for whatever insurance didn't. They were paperpushers, nothing more.
