Yeah, I hadn't noticed that - well-spotted.

There must be a better quality version of the image I'm linking to, but I'm not sure where. again, the photo is on my blog - check it out for another angle on the photo above

I thought someone woulda picked this up by now - there's another photo of the guy breaking the window, from the reverse direction.
Shows a lot of folk standing around.

See it at my blog because I presume we can't put images in these comments?

Dave @20:
Surely the value in AP reports is the quantity of them delivered in the service, not the individual reports themselves?

I'm genuinely uncertain of the wire service business model. Do papers (etc.) pay a flat fee for usage of whatever comes off the wire, or do they pay by story, or what?

This gambit is ridiculous on its face. Surely they know that no-one's going to pony up money via a web form to quote something in their blogs? And surely they know that blog excerpts do not represent lost revenue for them? So is their entire goal to stop something that isn't hurting them, even though it doesn't gain them anything either?

It all seems weird to me, as well as obnoxious.

Has anyone else noticed that "woot" acronymises its own award? Word of 07 => Wo07 = woot!

(Can I say acronymises? :P)

He’s also creating a sequel, Atlas, set in that eastern European country, that’s seen two issues in six years.

Three issues. I have all three. Distro continues to be a nuisance, though, so I think #3 has missed some areas entirely.

Nice list, btw.

Yeah, I blogged about 'All the Shah's Men' about a year ago and it made me furious. I already knew the general run of events, and the importance of it, but the details of how the coup was managed were appalling.

From that post, and relating to Patrick's phony-middle post a few posts back: "Most eye-opening was the extent to which the British government and CIA could and did undermine democracy in Iran - as soon as your newspapers and Mullahs have their opinions co-opted by foreign interests, you've lost the ability to engage in free decision-making."

And lets not even mention the fact that hardline Ahmadinejad swept to electoral success at least partly because the previous, much more moderate, President was making concessions to the West and seeking to engage with the U.S., and getting nothing but hostility in return. The electorate (and the religious leaders) got the message loud and clear - what is the point of trying to engage?

Gah.

Hey - any New Zealanders in the audience? Or other genius webheads who know more tricks than me?

NZ has its own little Climate Change denial organization, the NZ Climate Science Coalition. They don't seem to have much money going through them but they write lots of letters to editors and make submissions to govt. etc.

Their website is basically a feed of links to propaganda by Exxon-Mobil client organizations.

I'd like to know more about these guys. I'm discussing it and doing some research on my blog, but I first really got a grip on astroturfing and related issues here at Making Light, so I'm wondering if this audience can suggest any fruitful leads...

(Hmm, I think this is my first comment here ever after many many years of reading and recommending. Cool.)
