Pepsi? Is that what that is? They've got billboards all over the Denver area, and none of them make any sense at all.

Big thanks for sharing the sketch-notes, it was interesting both to see what he put down in panels I had missed as well as panels we both were at.

And yes, I bought shoe inserts during the convention as well. Best $12 I spent all con.

This is the kiss of death for a new terminal, and has been since Denver International Airport’s long-running and epic failure to automate their baggage handling. It was introduced in 1995 after a two year delay, and spent a decade expensively mangling and mislaying passenger luggage. It was put out of its misery in 2005, after parallel trials proved that manual handling was more accurate, faster, and cheaper.

Although I'll agree that the baggage handling in DIA was a horror and an epic failure, it wasn't the kiss of death for the terminal. In fact, having flown around a bit, I'm quite fond of DIA as a whole. (And not entirely because half the time I'm there I'm almost home. :)

That said, total agreement on the QA/Testing... I've been enjoying the concept of unit testing since I've been able to start using it on my code, and although that doesn't find all the bugs, it really does help me nail them down and prevent them from reoccuring.

Congratulations to the happy couple! And what a cute coincidence it is.
Posted on entry Fanfiction, Monetized ::: May 23, 2007, 11:42 AM:
I can't think of anything even remotely legitimate (other than hobby tables in artist alleys in cons) that makes a profit from fanfiction.

I don't know if it counts, but I know of at least two Xena fanfics which involved 'reincarnations' of the main characters in another time that were actually published as books - outside of the context it's not completely obvious who they're reincarnations of, and it becomes a story about two women.
Posted on entry ¡Viva el Cinco de Mayo! ::: May 06, 2007, 12:35 PM:
Hmm. I was more fond of Cinco De Mayo when it didn't effectively trap me in (or out) of my home on the closest weekend. I live near a major road that becomes jammed at night on CdM by cruising teenagers and partyers, and because of that the police set up various road blocks and the like to try to control traffic flow. As such, either I stay in all night (and no pizza delivery either), or I go out for the night and have to take an extremely circitous and traffic-jammed route home.

That said, excepting the traffic problems, it seems like a fun enough time. If I wasn't having health/work problems, I'd probably be visiting the festival downtown this weekend.

Eh, I enjoy Wikipedia. It's quick and semi-accurate information about the world that gives me a good place to start if I want to seriously learn about something, or which can be interesting if I'm just noodling about.
