Perhaps it was supposed to be `barter country.' He's just proposing a new economic model to help the US through the credit crunch.

Nah, he's obviously pointing towards England. (We're putting a fence up as I write.)

Serge@331 - you know, that's the only episode of Time Tunnel I can remember.

SpeakerToManagers@74 - Hypnotised? Aw, now you've got me wondering all over again whether or not you guys are real... ;-)

That should have been Abi@50. See what I mean about the slow-brain day? Apologies.

Abi@47 - Ah. Gotcha. Sorry, I'm having a slow-brain day. Very neat reply, by the way.

Abi@42 - Which movie was that?

I meant `near Perth.' Sorry.

Bill Rodgers, 96, became Scotland's oldest bridegroom when he married long-term girlfriend Liz, 72, Perth last weekend.

*delurks* Teresa - I've resisted a natural impulse to jump into the discussion both here and at Charlie's blog with both feet in my mouth, because I simply don't know enough about the subject - although I'm somewhat more knowledgeable than I was this time last week - and it's not really any of my business.

But Charlie closed down the comments on his blog before I could express my appreciation of your comment 205. Magnificent. The phrase I gesture meaningfully at him with my semi-erect pinky made my day.

*relurks*

Jackie@235 - to add to the Stross recommendations, The Jennifer Morgue is a mighty sly book.

Also Richard Morgan's Altered Carbon, Broken Angels and Woken Furies.

I saw Matthew Goode in The Lookout recently and thought he was a terrific actor, and the stills look very very good.

But I still have a bad feeling about this.

Whisky and a little water, except with a single malt which must be sampled neat. I'm frankly appalled by this fixation on putting vegetables in drinks. It's just...wrong.

I did once have a whisky sour in Wisconsin which made me smile for hours afterwards, and apart from one at the American Bar at the Savoy, which was close but no cigar, I've never been able to repeat the experience.

I also forgot to provide any validation data. I have been in the company of Charlie Stross on occasion, and Dave Langford has visited our flat. None of this convinces me I'm real, and if they have any sense at all both gentlemen will deny knowing anything about me.

I find the Bacon Numbers a bit confusing, but I think I have a four to the last Pope. My wife knows one of the Solidarity politicians, he knows Lech Walesa, and etc.

For the record, I'm 47 next month and I'm always fully-dressed when I post here.
