Way high up, it was said "the winner in each state takes all of the state's votes ... so if your state's outcome is already determined, there's no harm in staying home."

Florida in 2000 demonstrated to us that "already determined" is an elusive & deceptive condition.

Please, please, go out and vote even if your state has been "called" for a candidate by every network there is. Hell, even if you live in Hawaii and the polls closed back east two days ago. You're going to trust NBC, Fox, Comedy Central, anybody telling you your vote isn't necessary? *** that!

I'm going to be staying in Phoenix an extra three days after World Fantasy Con and volunteering with the Election Protection Coalition. Check it out.

Wooohooo! And Portland joins the party! If David and I weren't already married, I swear we'd do it now out of sheer solidarity.

I did stop by San Francisco City Hall ten days ago when I was in Oakland for a knitting convention. Hung out, talked to people, got misty-eyed, soaked up some history-in-the-making. It is a lot like the Wall coming down: sudden, inconceivable, right.

Btw, the county in question is Multnomah -- three syllables, just like it's spelled -- not "Multinomah". Even CNN keeps blowing it.

Are prairie dogs known for drooling? I had not previously considered the possibility that my cold was caused by macro-organisms, but now that you mention it, my head is definitely infested with a bullmastiff, or maybe a Newfie. Explains so much.

As if that weren't crowded enough, a small nest of whistling kittens has now taken up residence in my lungs. They do their thing at the bottom of each exhale. A good cough merely rearranges them.

Blessings on Bruce, for suggesting the Bengal Spice tea.

Hmph. The NY Times won't show me the photos in question (your primary link) without a fuss. (Sign in! It's Free! Name! Password! etc.) The link in Sinboy's comment goes straight through.

FYI.

My images of college life had been formed in equal measure by Doonesbury and by my parents' early-50's University of Rochester yearbooks... Thus when I started school, I found it vaguely unsettling -- something was missing -- there were no ivy-covered quads, & no massed student protests! Clearly a weak imitation of the real thing.
