I can't figure out what's supposed to be casting the patches of light and shadow in the ersatz Kincaids. It doesn't seem to correspond to anything in the sky. I've seen rants about him before but I too would welcome another one.
The one that's tempting me, though, is "I Saw the Figure 5 in Gold".
Excellent Two Cultures moment going on here. Xopher: I believe they mean sum or difference of two powers; 64-9-2 has three terms, not two. 1 is not prime, but it is a prime power, e.g. 17=2^4+3^0.
Kate, the old grumpy hobbit looked female or ambiguous to me, too, but I'm pretty sure it's the same one as the old Proudfoot who says "Proudfeet!" in a very male voice at Bilbo's party.
