In middle school, discussing watching X-Men on the bus one afternoon. It was the first time I realized I wasn't the only person into things like that.

Funny because I just finished reading an article about how indie music, like Death Cab for Cutie, is bad because you can't dance to it. At least according to New Yorker music critic Sasha Frere-Jones.

Still don't understand why the MTA has to be so incompetent with keeping its customers informed. It's not just with changes, but with basic information about the subway lines. When I first moved to the city last year I was overwhelmed by how confusing the subway was -- on most of the trains there's no information about the specific line, or the stops, except for the one MTA subway map in each car.

It's not much better on the platform. If there is information about the subway line, chances are it's covered up by change of service announcement.

The thing is there are more complicated public transportation systems that are far more user friendly.

Frowner,

Ironic isn't it? An on-line newspaper which carries a feminist blog feels the need to use such cliches as the tragic/fragile beauty to make the life of a female writer more enticing. I wonder if the people in charge of the Broadsheet will make a note of the discrepancy, or is that only suppose to be a critique of the mainstream media.

That was the coolest thing I've ever seen. Didn't get to see the little girl (although I'm actually hanging on to the light pole you can see in the beginning just after the elephant splashes everyone).

I hope the company does things like this in other cities. It's just too marvelous to be kept to one corner of the world.

Let me explain to you how pissed off this entire situation makes me. Reading the NY Times and seeing the words "chose to stay" in regards to those who couldn't do anything but remain in their houses and hope for the best. There many have been a few residents who chose to stay rather than leave or seek shelter, but I doubt that the masses left had any choice. These were people trapped because the security plan didn't have a way out for them. I wonder how much access these people had to a shelter. Should they have been expected to walk to the Superdome if it were miles away?
