Jim, the pollster knew perfectly well what party Gravel belongs to. They were just hoping to confuse a few (few hundred; few thousand?) people who might support him in the Democratic primary. They played dumb when you called them on it because dumb probably seemed preferable to admitting their deceit. This type of call that messes with the voter's mind is kissin' cousin to the more usual "Would you be less likely to support candidate X if you knew he or she was doing shady activity Y?"

Network Geek in #792: "lemon pickle"

Indian lemon and/or lime pickle (or mixed pickle which can also include lotus root slices, mango fruit and peel, peas, capers, etc.; often called "achaar") is one of those classic love-it-or-hate-it condiments. Some folks think it's delicious, others consider it an inedible miasma of ammoniac, mustard-gas-soaked rotten fruit and vegetables. (The first time I ate it I thought it was inedible but was strangely drawn to it in later visits to Indian restaurants and now consider it one of my favorite tastes and think no Indian food is complete without it.)

I agree with #112 that the Embryoyo site looks to have been some third party's net-savvy extended joke at the expense of the student journalist who was fired for plagarism last November? (See also here.) I mean, whew, if the blog really was the work of the U of Utah student plagarist, then a team of mental health professionals, rather than lawyers, should be dispatched to deal with him.

I'm with albatross in comment 73:

Accepting Bush asleep at 9pm requires no stretch of the imagination, and demands no framework of hypothetical GWB staff lies, or critics' conspiracy theorizing, to account for it: the current administration is rife with incompetence and its putative head is lazy, self-centered, and largely irrelevant to the core decision-making processes (come one, we've known this last part since GWB's non-participation in the events of Sept. 11, 2001).

I can't imagine anyone doubting GWB prioritizing his immediate personal comfort or desires over the nation's interest -- he indulges his own schedule and pastimes all the time, and falling asleep early when something big is about to go down is entirely in character.
