I suppose an swan song from an octopus would actually be chromatic, since they can change color to communicate, right? Unless they decide to use black ink, instead.
I'm worried about someone taking a potshot at HRC since there's a lot more self-identified Hillary-haters out there. One person already brought a home-made bomb to one of her campaign offices early in the campaign, right?
I hope the Secret Service is on the job with all the candidates.

We just boil or simmer slices of ginger (drink sweetened or not). Crushed is more efficient, I guess, since it exposes more surface area.
Adding it to the pot of chicken soup you're cooking is great for colds & coughs.
You can freeze ginger to preserve it then grate it as needed.
I've tried soaking crushed ginger in vodka to see if I could get gingerol but it didn't work too well.
Anyway, I decided to cut down on my ginger intake since it's blood thinning and I need more red blood cells, not less. Too bad; I love ginger.
ST @ 1: Maureen Dowd thought that mocking Al Gore for wearing earth tones was funny. I hear W laughed all the way to the Oval Office.
And maybe Reuters photoshops in the same way?
Susan @344: AfaIct, it is a parody site but all the quotes used are legit -- actual quotes from Obama or his supporters.
I think some of the photos are photoshopped to add those light effects, although the topmost photo (the one with Soros) appears untouched, compared with the original.
There's a discussion link on it which is interesting.

You've expressed a lot of my own misgivings.

Thanks for looking for that -- I didn't mean to give you work to do.
I read through his speech. Honestly, even seeing it in context, I am not reassured. Sounds more than ever like a religious call-out. There are many other words he (or his speechwriter, whoever picked those words) he could have used, but he picked those.
So I am going to try to be so persuasive in the 20 minutes or so that I speak that by the time this is over, a light will shine down from somewhere.
It will light upon you. You will experience an epiphany. And you will say to yourself, I have to vote for Barack. I have to do it.
For a lapsed Catholic like me, the images that come to mind are the Holy Spirit coming down to light upon the people, and the epiphany is God shining through to be revealed as man. The magi bowing before him.
In other news, Kosovo will be independent. Hopeful news.
It also made me think of the cultural identity vs citizenship discussion here.
Tangential -- It makes me wonder -- are there any scientific studies on the physiological effects of being in a crowd?

Thank you for your reply. Do you have the text of the SC stump speech or a link to it?
Happy birthday, Abi-wan!
(Very cool poster!)
I don't think Obama wants my vote. It's like he's gone out of his way during this campaign to make sure I don't vote for him.
And I certainly can't vote for someone who says of himself:
“At some point in the evening, a light is going to shine down and you will have an epiphany and you’ll say, ‘I have to vote for Barack.’â€
That's just guaranteed to make me say "No, I won't."
So count me in as cynical.
Since it looks like he's on the way to winning, I hope I'm wrong about him.
96 @ BSD.
As usual, the media is bringing the Clinton-Hate, but I don't think it's appropriate.
Yeah, big time. Check out Melissa McEwan's round-up of the misogyny.
will @251 I agree. Huckabee will be dangerous in the general election. Even a McCain/Huckabee ticket might be enough to bring their base out.
If they go on the same ticket, I'd like a Clinton/Obama ticket, with the agreement that neither run for a second term. Really, the 2nd term always seems to be more trouble than it's worth, for both president and country. They each have 2 years to do some good before they become lame ducks. That should put some urgency into their "now".
What upsets me about this primary is the staggering amount of money all the campaigns have to come up with. Obama raised something like $39 million in January, Clinton had to lend her campaign $5 million, and the bitter irony of John McCain being the only one doing the public financing. Clearly, clearly, you can't run for office without the backing of the capital class anymore.
One thing about Hillary's negatives -- I think they're overblown, specially among women. This is anecdotal, but I've talked to/emailed women who are afraid to say which candidate they like best -- turns out it's Hillary and they're afraid to say it for fear of being jumped on. It's acceptable, even cool, to diss Hillary in public.
Obama's got the reverse effect -- people are afraid to be labeled bigots if they talk about their reservations about him.
will @158
Does Clinton have a strength that I'm missing, or is it simply that a lot of Democrats continue to be swayed by the Clinton advantage in the DLC?
Some people just don't trust Obama or his approach or the media rah-rah.
As for race, Clinton gets Hispanic and Asian-American support, which I personally think is a cultural thing -- loyalty to their family's past service.

I really don't know what to do about 'the problem with the media.'
My new name for the media is the Corporate Pravda.
I think Al Gore sees the media as the problem also (prescient as always) and his answer is to work on creating an alternative media (current.tv)
I still think both Clinton & Obama are corporate-approved flavors. I don't vote until April, and when I do it will be for Edwards. He can still pick up delegates. It's his platform I want heard at the convention.
