My own notes about the Adirondack (we took it 7/31 - Friday)
1) You will be late.
2) On our train, we had lots of electrical outlets. No wireless. I
made some progress on pruning my folders of digital photos on my
laptop.
3) Amtrak is not particularly interested in keeping their customers
informed. At least, not in the Albany station. The public address
system was broken in our car.
4) Train coach is much more comfortable than plane cabin class. It
just takes longer.
5) Beer and wine is served in the lounge. The prices are high.
After a while, you won't care.
