albatross @ 63 - this is exactly why I love haunting the boards here... so much info! Thanks!

While I what I know about Iran is minimal, I'm fascinated by the social media shape of this - the online mob mentality. The waves of information that spread, morph, and twist - along with the video, images, stories. Everything gets passed around so quickly that new information comes in before there is a chance to digest the old.

Posted on entry Kennedy Assassination ::: November 23, 2008, 10:07 PM:
I've been reading Vincent Bugliosi's rather exhaustive work on the Kennedy assassination... its rather dense.

Also rather convincing (at least so far) that Oswald acted alone.

Again, long time reader here.. get well soon, and sending prayers and best wishes your way.
Posted on entry Mama's Little Babies Love Zucchini ::: August 21, 2008, 03:15 PM:
Deep fried zucchini is also wonderful...cut into lengths, dip in a light batter, and fry.

Thanks for the marrow info, I read Roger Ackroyd recently and was wondering what a marrow was.

I had a black ermine from Denmark (mine is evidently a summer ermine.)

And, tool for me? Crescent Wrench.
Posted on entry Trauma and You, Part Four: The Squishy Bits ::: July 13, 2008, 04:22 PM:
I'm so glad to see another one of these here. They are wonderful posts, and I learn a lot.

I came across a car/cow accident in Tasmania and used some previous posts to help the driver while the ambulance was on the way.... thank you!

Kathryn @ 30 - I am not a air quality/health specailist, nor do I play one on TV, but I am a mom who lived with my (now 14 year old) daughter in Cupertino for 2 years.

She had a continual cold when we were there that only cleared up when we visited my parents in MN over Christmas. When we moved to Minnesota, she got better. I blame the air quality.

15. Sigh. I did make the Hall of Fame. (that makes me think less of the Hall of Fame)

The Gorey Tribble is so wonderful on so many levels...
Posted on entry Gaming Wikipedia ::: July 24, 2007, 04:31 PM:
Somewhat related... I play on a team in the Stevens Point Trivia contest - question read on the radio, limited time to answer, points per question based on how many teams get it right. This last year, one of the teams started changing pages on Wikipedia to either remove the right answer or add in a wrong answer. (ie, if the question asked for the name of a dog in a movie, either the name would be removed from the page, or a false name would be added)

The data would be changed back pretty quickly, but not within the 6-8 minutes we would have to answer a question.

I've yet to decide if I'm deriding them for this, or admiring the way they found to game the system....

The Harriet Myers effect was there with Michael Brown as well.

You see, I take the public affirmation of support from W as the kiss of death. Time to start the countdown to resignation of Rummy.

Happy Birthday...and may you have many more.
Posted on entry A Visit from Saint Nicholas ::: December 06, 2005, 11:00 PM:
I read this this morning, and this afternoon picked up my daugher from daycare, where they had all left out their boots for St. Nicolas - whoa. Candy and toys were in all the boots, so cute.
Posted on entry Jon Singer's turkey algorithm ::: November 25, 2005, 06:34 PM:
I'm lazy... I make a perfectly acceptable turkey (for Christmas, though) using an oven roasting bag - no basting, always moist. Pretty easy, too.
