It's also possible you're thinking of 100 Great Science Fiction Short Short Stories, edited by Asimov, which I checked out from the library several times as a kid and thoroughly loved.

I had a copy of that myself, when I was young and green. I read it over and over again until, in a fit of pique (a fight about something stupid), my brother shot it full of BB's.

Ruled Britannia, by Harry Turtledove.

(I'm sure Patrick is familiar with it, for the rest, its an Alternate History set in a 16th Century England where the Spanish Armada successfully invaded England, setting up Spanish rule. Will Shakespeare, Christopher Marlowe and other historical characters populate the novel, but it focuses on Shakespeare)

Ah, yes, 1010 WINS. "All news, all the time" Fond memories of the AM radio station back when I lived in NY. (On Staten Island, of all places)

I used to think that if the world were to end, there would be good old 1010, laconically detailing the events as they unfolded.

I also recall in Spider Robinson's NIGHT OF POWER that one indication to the protagonists that the takeover had happened was that 1010 had begun broadcasting soul music instead of the news...

My condolences to Theresa, but congradulations on the award.

It's always been my theory that those most deserving of such an honor are the last people who think themselves they should receive it.
