Something has to be sacrificed (electrons released) to separate
water into hydrogen and oxygen. That process is a reduction
reaction which requires electrons to do it. Where does it get the
electrons? There has to be another material oxidized to reduce the
water to elemental components. There's got to be a story behind the
story.
