Its really quite difficult to
amend
the Constitution. Note from the linked article:
It is interesting to note that at no point does the President have a role in the formal amendment process (though he would be free to make his opinion known). He cannot veto an amendment proposal, nor a ratification. This point is clear in Article 5, and was reaffirmed by the Supreme Court in Hollingsworth v Virginia (3 USC 378 [1798]):
I love the fact that Huckabee is being so upfront about all of this. When a really dangerous guy is running for President, isn't it refreshing that he doesn't try to be subtle about it?
Um, guys,
The spider was always eensy-weensy.
Philistines.
I predict Hilary has made her last visit to Dixville Notch.
I'm sure I've said it before, but I love it here.
Nicole @ 34,
Growing up in North Florida, there was an accepted contingent who pronounced it "praw-leen". Just sayin'.
Happy happy everybody!
Two things.
The NYC Transit Authority recently ran a little test on themselves. They had various people hand over "lost" items to various Transit employees. Something like three out of 27 items ever made it to the lost and found.
Also, NYPD has been running commercials "If you see something, say something", exhorting citizens to alert the police to suspicious packages. The commercial goes on to say "Since (some date) "x" many people have seen something and said something". I'm dying to know out of all those packages the cops were sent to investigate, how many times was there anything bad there.
I've gone back and forth on how I feel about the death penalty all my life but always end up being against it based solely on my lack of faith in our ability to convict the right guy.
Jen Roth,
Where are you. I recently did some work in Connecticut and they've apparently decided to fly flags at half-staff until all soldiers are back from Iraq/Afghanistan or some such date.
Side note: When I watched different people raise the flags, they all did it wrong. You're supposed to raise it to full staff momentarily and then lower it to half-staff. These guys just raised it half way and stopped.
Also, when I asked some of these guys why the flag was flying at half-staff, none of them knew. (I got the answer from police chief in Bridgeport.)
Timprov @160 said: 1986 sucked
Yet you leave out the suckiest event of that year; the Red Sox blowing game 6 of the World Series. Get your priorities straight.
Am I the only one who's a little depressed that the majority of people cc:'ing people on emails have never seen a sheet of carbon paper...and probably don't even know what cc: stands for?
And get off my lawn!

Born in 1960 in Jacksonville, Fl. First event I remember experiencing as it happened was MLK assassination. I distinctly recall them breaking in to "Bewitched" to announce it.
I have delayed memories of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Jacksonville with 2-3 military bases, was considered a first strike target. When I was six or seven, I asked my mom why I had to wear the "stupid dogtags"; name, father's name, address, D.O.B., phone #, race, religion. She made some evasive answer about "they wouldn't want me to get lost". I didn't think about it again until I was about 16 and found them in a drawer. Looking at them, my first thought was, "this was in case I got F'ing incinerated!"
I still have them.
OK, open thread and all...
On the local news tonight, they ran a story about how since the Whopper is turning 50, they had Madame Tousaud's recreate the Burger King character, (the creepy one from the commercials) in the museum. Then they had the guy in the costume unveiling the damned thing.
I just find it a little strange that they'd make a wax figure of something that's already basically a puppet.
You may now return to your posts. That is all.

In addition to what everyone else has said, I think the main thing is confidence and you won't gain confidence in anything you don't do repeatedly. Take a practice drive (or two) on the route you'll be following; both ways in daylight. Give yourself some landmarks that are really easy to pick out so you know when turns are coming up. Try to get to the point where the route is second nature and you can concentrate on the driving itself.
and another snow tip (and I believe this one's a law in most places.)
When you clear the snow off your car, clear the roof too. You create a hazard when the snow on your roof starts blowing off at the cars behind you, and it also suck big-time when you hit the brakes and the whole roof-full-o-snow slides down your windshield and blinds you.

So Pyre @ 55 (if you are who you say you are),
96 is not to be trusted?
P.S. It takes a warped mind to have come up with that. I like that.

Stefan Jones (33):
"Ninety six? How do you do that?"
It requires another couple.
Actually, I believe it requires just a smidge less than 40% of another couple. Maybe our host with the medical experience can tell us how you accomplish that. I have no idea.

Rene Descartes was born on March 31, 1596 in Touraine, France. When he visited Pascal in 1647, he said "the only way to do good work in mathematics ...is to never allow anyone to make me get up in the morning before I feel inclined to do so"
