A couple of interesting pages that came to mind when I read this:

http://infotrope.net/blog/2009/03/25/ada-lovelace-day-two-ground-breaking-open-source-projects/

Talks about two mostly-female Open Source projects.

http://infotrope.net/blog/2009/05/19/dispatches-from-the-revolution/

Includes comments about people's experiences working on these projects. Very interesting stuff.

Then you probably don't want to think about the time when Serenity was waiting for cargo and to pass the time the crew put on The Pirates of Penzance.

Please, sully not my 'Pirates of Penzance' TNG casting.

Picard as the Major-General, Riker as the Pirate King with Geordi as his trusty sidekick, Samuel; Worf (probably being blackmailed into it) plays the Sergeant of Police.

Data *is* Frederick. "Oh is there not one maiden here, whose homely face and bad complexion Have caused all hope to disappear..."

Deanna as Mabel, with sundry con ensigns as the Major-General's various daughters, and Dr Pulaski as Ruth.
