I voted for Nader because my number-one issue in 2000 was how
sanctions on Iraq were harming Iraqi civilians; I thought that
neither Gore nor Bush was an acceptable candidate. It's not clear
to me that things would be better now had Gore been president.
It'll take many years before it's possible to judge if invading
Iraq will have been a net benefit to the Iraqi people.
Of course, 2004 is not 2000. I intend to vote for Kerry in the
national election, unless the election's outcome seems like a
foregone conclusion in November.
Still, I think Ray is right - the really significant political
activism, for progressives, is organizing outside of electorial
politics.
