Posted on entry Palin and the Rape Kits of Wasilla ::: March 02, 2009, 06:49 PM:
As someone who's intimately familiar with rape kits from two different states (NC and IL), I can attest that they are almost identical in contents and language to the one described herein (notification aspects differ, as does counseling about contraception and STD prophylaxes - NC's doesn't do that, nor are hospitals required to offer or cover it).

So, that's the midwest, south/east coast, and north/east coast covered...

(Oh, and I'm familiar with them because in both states I'm a sexual assault survivor advocate, and familiarizing ourselves with the kits is standard training procedure. Plus, I've sat in through a few now.)

In 2000, someone with whom I'd had an online flirtation going said to me something along the lines of "there's someone in my life, her name is X, and she is non-negotiable", which opened up into a discussion on poly, which I had never heard of before.

And many, many small kindnesses by relative strangers over the years. A word here, a book there... all adding up to enough to make it worth it, when I was at my darkest.
Posted on entry Making things, as well as light ::: September 16, 2008, 06:43 PM:
Well, currently I'm engaged in making a small baking business. Which means I'm trying to find kitchen space, currently, but otherwise that I'm trying out lots of recipes to see if I want to include them or not. So lots and lots of baking, and the occasional, "Hey, I have five different kinds of hot fudge, everyone should come over and taste test and play games and such".

Also, one quilt top waiting stuffing and quilting, and lots of photographs awaiting editing by the dear spouse (I take 'em, he makes 'em pretty).
