There's probably a couple, but the biggest ripple effect I can think of came in 1996. In the wake of a bad breakup, I went stalker-ish and began MUSHing because it was the only way I could find to spend time with him. Most of what is good in my life has indirectly sprung from that first login.

I'm just pleased it's here in 'fake' Virginia. I'm half considering going even though I hate driving to/from Manassas, especially in the evenings.

I have to admit, I've been deliberately avoiding the FanLib site. Something about what they are doing and how it has been presented just strikes me as unpleasant and the type of venture I don't want to associate with in any way.

Besides, it's always so much more fun to watch these things implode from afar.

One item on OED list that you dismiss but that I see misspelled on a regular basis is plagiarism. For some reason, people cannot seem to accept the presence of that first i, thus rendering their forum and blog posts instantly painful to read.

Oh, and I also throw in a vote for liaison as difficult. That's another word I often see spelled incorrectly.
