Ugh. Moving blows. There is NOTHING fun about moving, at all.
But hey, if it keeps the post in which you link my blog close to the top of your page, well, take your time!
It scares me that there exists an industry such that a government warning on how to not die when working in a manure pit is actually necessary!
(Although, combining that with the "botched executions" list yields some pretty dark thoughts....)
When I was doing a lot more writing longhand, I used to go to the cafe at Borders or the library occasionally, just for a change of scenery. A big factor was that when one's day job involves sitting at a desk staring at a computer all day, it's kind of hard to come right home and do it again for the de facto second job. Going elsewhere to write helped in this regard.
On a tangential note, may I suggest that sometime you post a picture of the slushpile? I've always wondered what it actually looks like -- the great mound of manila envelopes, shot through with whatever neon-colored ones their authors think will "draw notice".
Well, the other day it was speculated that John Kerry had a bit part in Attack of the Clones, here.
"Oh, come on. I know there couldn't be more than X months' worth of manuscripts in front of mine", where X = ([number of months since submission]-1).
Usually uttered while thumbing through the day's mail, before even leaving the mail delivery area of the apartment building.
Chip: You were one of the performers? I am highly envious, if so!
Hector Berlioz turned 200 yesterday. Just sayin'.
Gee, and I was this close to sending my manuscript to PublishAmerica!
(Kidding, obviously -- I'd never heard of them before. Here's a discussion-board thread I turned up about them. They apparently don't actually edit books. Sort of like Tom Clancy's publisher, in that regard....)
Here's a really good photo of the "sacred underwear". (By "really good", I mean....um, er....never mind.)
There once was a blogger named Bostick
Whose verse seems a tad bit acerbic.
Says he: "Blogging's its own reward",
But I fear such will not strike a cord,
And he'll be off to stalk Barry Bostwick.
I plan to take out a large bounty on spammers, just as soon as I get my windfall from the little service I'm performing for the exiled President of Nigeria.
I actually wasn't that worried about whether they were legit or not. It's just that, isn't this a bit labor-intensive for what is probably going to reap little reward, if I'm understanding things correctly?
Hey, I literally just got done writing a post about this exact same thing on my blog, here. Is this another opening salvo in comments-spamming or something?
