Are you or a loved one dealing with mental illness? Try This Alien Shore.

Marrying into a conservative religious sect? The Honor of the Queen, Flag in Exile, etc.

Extraordinarily empathic? Arrows of the Queen, Arrow's Flight, and Arrow's Fall.

And finally, does your life suck beyond all imagining? Remember, it could be worse! Just ask Vanyel in Magic's Pawn, Magic's Promise and Magic's Price.

I can tell you that both Morris dancing and Scottish country dance are alive and well at Bryn Mawr; I have actually participated in the latter. Various alumnae of the club have gone on to continue Scottish even after graduation, as have the students who learned Morris. Morris dancing traditionally opens May Day and the dancers get thoroughly Anassed when they finish.

@9: Could pedophiles get sexbots that look like children?

That could potentially solve a lot of problems.
Posted on entry What kind of "Election Day unrest" are we talking about? ::: October 22, 2008, 03:05 AM:
Quite honestly, I think any rioting/post-election violence will come from the frothing extremists who seem to be showing up more and more at McCain/Palin rallies. They're the one openly and actively calling for violence, which even the most radical Obama supporters haven't done.

I think in the end it comes down to the fact that while Democrats consider McCain to be loathsome and will fight disenfranchisement and voter fraud tooth and nail, we don't actively see him as an enemy to be (physically) destroyed. The other side, however, has no such compunctions.

As you sure the guy on the rooster isn't a cuckold riding a cock (oh, how suggestive *that* is!)?

This is why my personal motto is "Hope for the best, plan for the worst." People (and machines) are bound to screw up. There's always a bigger fool.

This is why I dislike theorists in some fields. They miss the fact that people never do what one expects them to do.

I was wondering when you would get around to commenting on the recent LJ kerfuffles and PR screw-ups.

Does anyone know what happened to Pandagon? I was reading it this morning without a problem, but when I returned this afternoon, it had turned into porn.

I'm on the side who prefer their Weber sans spaceship porn. I read the Harrington novels for the characters. One of the joys of Weber's novels (and Bujold's, too) is the characterization of the ensemble. Honor has some of the marks of a Mary Sue, but escapes the title partially because of the degree of delegation and recognition of the secondary characters.

That's another one of my reasons for liking Weber's novels. His female characters are strong, smart, and capable. While the incidence of good heroines is increasing, it still isn't high enough. Plus, Off Armageddon Reef has a transsexual hero/ine! *wishes desperately for Cayleb/Merlin*

*wanders off, hoping she didn't fangirl too hard*
