Along of the lines of what Teresa called displacement -- you know how the anti-gays are obsessed with the idea that gay adults want to obtain children (as in adoption and foster care) in order to have sex with them? Perhaps the Dobson method of parenting is appealing to people who want to have children mostly so they can have someone to dominate, and they project parenting-as-abusiveness onto others.

By using the term "huffing", I suspect they're more likely talking about sniffing things like cooking spray or gasoline, not marijuana.

OK, question for PNH, as a member of the publishing industry: one anti-Richard-Clarke argument is that Clarke is just trying to goose book sales. For the kind of book we're talking about, what is the realistic amount of money that a realistic difference in sales could make to him? (I suspect the real money in this kind of thing is in speaking fees, anyway.)

Well, that falls under the category of "different things work for different people". Or now. Or now. Or now. I suspect you see my point. For someone like that, a huge habit-warp may be what's required.

But always remember the key difference between us and them:

They only understand force. They will be forced to admit that they cannot win.

Mitch Wagner: I have to disagree. Directly participating in a terrorist crime makes you a terrorist, but not everything that a terrorist does is terrorism. In this case, I go with those who used the word "sabotage".
