Completely unrelated to anything else, but my hubbie forwarded this link to me today after doing some research for his food and nutrition class:
http://www.illwillpress.com/fatkins.html
Lots of swearing but very funny.
Mmm, count me in as a cilantro lover. This sounds great, but my husband hates cilantro -- says it tastes like dirt -- so it will have to wait until next Thursday. When he's at school on Thursdays I get to cook whatever foods I love that he turns his nose up at, and this is going on the list!
I believe that what brings us together is more important than what draws us apart.
Thank you again for posting - and hosting - this sharing of faith.
The Profession of Faith used to leave a bitter taste in my mouth from years of hearing it recited without much apparent conviction or rejoicing, but it's refreshing to see someone willing to profess their faith in a basically secular forum like this. Thank you for sharing this! I can't say I disagree with much of what you believe, or with much of what others here have professed, but I'll add mine to the outpouring:
I believe that Christ was God's perfect attempt to reach man, and religion is man's imperfect attempt to reach God.*
I believe that God doesn't care how we reach Him, so long as we keep reaching.
I believe there is no greater law than to love one another, and love God.
I believe as Christ taught, that what we do to the least of His brothers, we do to Him.
I believe that we are all children of God, we all have a divine heritage, and we are all blessed with Grace and the Holy Spirit when we need them most.
* I haven't been able to find any attribution to that quote, other than I heard it first from Fr. Dougherty who taught us Death & Dying and Morality in high school.
I was curious to see how many people have started watching her LJ due to recent "press" so I checked her out on Maranel's Joule. She already had a lot of people watching before she went to Iraq. People were discovering her by ones and twos until March 3rd but most of the 586 people watching her LJ have showed up since April 6. On April 10th alone 120 new people started watching her LJ!
Personally I hope she's for real and that what she's blogging is real - I've just seen enough instances of people lying to get sympathy and to feel loved and needed (e.g. Munchausen by Proxy) or material gain (e.g., half the spam in my mail box) that I'm not willing to believe everything I read on the Internet.
I heard of sanitary pads as bandages in Vietnam myself - but this from my history-buff husband, not any text books or personal reading.
I finally figured it out despite my complete inability to follow your bread crumbs. Being a geek has its advantages I suppose. I'm just too jaded - I've seen and heard of enough hoaxes in general and on LJ in particular. I trust your ear, but there's a cynical part of me that thinks this is just a work in progress. Plus, I'd suspect that someone *would* have pulled the plug by now if it weren't a hoax. But maybe in that sense I'm naive. Interesting reading either way.
Ooh, rest up and let people take care of you! I hope you feel better soon!
