Part of the problem is the whole idea that we're supposed to show
"these people" a better way of government. What pretentious
bullcrap. It's the same kind of bullcrap that on the other side of
the political aisle leads to an atmosphere in which we can
dehumanize and act patronizingly toward those we wish to rule in
such a way that we imply a willingness to allow torture as SOP.
We can hardly govern ourselves. What gives us the right to think we
should be teaching others anything?
