How did we get to this point? I mean really, was it their parents, their grandparents, theirs...How did the human mind (I use both loosely here) evolve and mutate (site specific instances of course)to the point that anyone and I mean anyone in good conscious advocate taking a switch to a baby, yet cringe at the thought of sharing a pew with gay people or sharing the very air they breath with these...immoral strange strange people who have found love (oh, wait they must not be capable of love, being that they are a sin against nature and all)in the arms of someome of the same sex. Don't they know they have a choice? It's not like they are born that way.
I just won't ever understand how people with such small minds can have such a big influence over the masses. How can we expect to teach tolerance when it quite simply...won't be tolerated.
There is a town in Oklahoma that is in an uproar over a children's book. I think it is called "King and King", but the story is about a prince that chooses to marry...gasp, another prince. Parents are saying that it should be quarintined to the adult section, presumably to prevent our children from being "tainted" by reading the book.
I am just absolutely sick of all the mental midgets we have to put up with on a regular basis. When is it going to change and I mean for the better?
I'm tired of fighting with these jackasses. You argue and argue and the minute you start making valid points to debunk their bullshit, you can practically see their eyes glaze over. They don't want to hear anything that might jostle the little protective bubble that they put in place to ensure that their narrow minded views stay intact. Sadly, I just can't see a change coming in my lifetime. I have (had) great hope, but it is on a steady decline.
Actually, the Germans created a synthetic fuel to power the war machine. They used the Fischer Tropsch method for converted the country’s abundant coal resources into fuel and lubricants. Apparently, their neighbors were growing increasingly reluctant to sell them fuel, though I can’t imagine why. They used fractional distillation to break the product into several different octane levels. They could even produce fuel that was light enough to power their air force.

It is really a quite fascinating history. This process is the foundation that my company (Syntroleum) was built on. Though we primarily use Natural gas rather than coal for the conversion process, we still use a variant of the FT reactor to make synthetic fuels. We are on the brink of providing the world an alternative to the gouging of the oil companies.
I thank you, thank you very much (imagine that being being said in a really so-so elvis impersonation.)
I have a great dislike of loud, aggressive bores with an obvious sense of entitlement. They tell jokes badly, and never volunteer to bring a casserole.
You have described me almost perfectly, except I always volunteer to bring a casserole. :)
Why stop there? Let’s just get this whole nation under control while we still can. I say we make it illegal to even discuss anything political (unless of course it shows the current administration in good light). If you drop a “Dubya” bomb while talking to a friend in a bar, you go to jail.
How can the government show us how much they are doing for us if they are constantly reminded of how unhappy the people are about their decisions? The new national motto will be: “Don’t confuse me with the truth.”
They are obviously upset about people linking to their sites to show what jackasses they are or this would be a non-issue. Campaign contributions my foot, they are just looking for a reason to silence the voices they can't control. If they don’t want to come off looking like a jackass then they shouldn’t act like one.
Richard Shaver, for years the editor of Amazing, believed that malign "disintegrant energy robots" hidden in caverns beneath the Earth were using ancient pre-human technology to control the planet's surface dwellers and make war on one another.
I wonder if Bill O'Reilly also made contact with these robots.
The answer is, yes, you absolutely need your ankle in order to play drums.
You need both legs, but one arm is doable.
Our drummer sprained his ankle and can’t play, so enough with the “break a leg” comments already.
That's just wrong, on so many levels! I hope there are no more mishaps and you guys knock 'em... perhaps I should be careful what I hope for!
“And, please, save me from witnessing it in others. It's too awful.”
I don’t quite understand the reasoning behind this. If we didn’t witness it in others, wouldn’t it stand to reason that we were suffering from the same blindness?
As long as you have taken us off topic :), the reason that HR says not to discuss salaries is so that "Bob" who has been working for the company for ten years can sleep soundly at night, blissfully unaware that "John" Whom they hired right out of college is making 20 Gs a year more for doing the same job (possibly even less work load since he would still be pretty green). The company wants to get by with paying their employees as little as possible.
I used to tell my guys that if they really wanted a raise, they should quit and reapply for the same job.
But the burning question is which of the brothers in Right Said Fred was the most talented. Did you know they are rumored to have a new album coming out?
I agree, the crop of ads could have used a little more umph. There were several I liked(The Godaddy one stands out, almost as much as the talking bear kicking the Bandit in the boys), but most of them were... unremarkable.
Watching Terry and Sir Paul sing again was pretty darn funny.
Did anyone else see the skit they did earlier in the day where they made James into an A-hole, Terry into a genius, Howie into an overly sensitive crybaby, and Jimmy telling the world, he didn't understand how football works?
That was some pretty funny stuff.
It would, of course, be panix.chien.
That's awesome.
I wonder if this situation has them in a... panic. I know, groan, but it had to be said! :)
Outstanding! The ConDFW is out in my neck of the woods. Barring any natural disasters in the near future, I will actually attend that one.
I am currently reading The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide by Douglas Adams. Which is to say that I am re-reading (and in some cases disovering for the first time which is just incomprehensible to me) The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, Life, The Universe and Everything, So Long and Thanks for the Fish, Young Zaphoid Plays it Safe, and Mostly Harmless.
The book before that was: Minion by L.A. Banks.
Which followed only a few hours after setting down Vittorio by Anne Rice.
One of my coworkers is teaching me Mandarin. It is amazing how intonation plays such an important role in that language. You can say the same word fourteen different ways (yes I am exagerating a bit) and have fourteen completely different meanings. Some of them possibly even naughty! So far the conversational speak has been fairly easy to pick up, but I am still struggling with sentence structure on anything more complex than pleasantries.
I wouldn't normally post a link to another blog. But I read something this morning that seems to be pertinent to the conversation.
It is written by a gay man in Oklahoma. He is sharing his views about how the election has shown him how America feels about him.

Just thought I would share.
