I think the dustup here is over what the word "revival" means. In
this context it doesn't refer to evangelical camp-revival meetings
- three days of hymns and bible-thumping and thank-you-Jesus . It's
a reference to socio-historical events that lasted decades. Take a
look at the chart here:
Some of the Great Revivals lasted over one hundred years. Not the
happiest of thoughts to someone like me, when the current one only
began in the 1960's, though it appears that improved technology can
speed the cycle up a bit.
