>>Feeling of Doom
>>You’ll know it when you have it.

When I took a course on sudden death investigation, the M.E. said the reason so many heart attack victims are found in a washroom is because of that feeling of doom. He described it as "the feeling you're going to puke, crap, and faint -- all at once."

I went to a parent-teacher interview at my daughter's elementary school some years back. The hallway was decorated with student artwork and writing, and although some was very good, I was surprised that "Ms. Doe," Sara's grade five teacher, had transcribed the stories verbatim, leaving in all the errors. When I asked why, Ms. Doe was indignant. Editing the students' work, she said, would "damage their self-esteem" and "stifle their creativity."

Stifling my own urge to ask her how long she'd been sniffing the Elmer's Glue in art class, I asked Ms. Doe if she thought my daughter was a timid little mouse, afraid to express herself for fear of a put-down. I reminded her about the class discussion they'd had about religion, where Sara had announced with a wicked grin, "We're heathens!"

Stifled creativity? I think not.

I come from a pharmacy background, and your comment that the two dosages were both white pills set off a warning bell for me. Most companies produce different dosages of a medication in different colors so there is less chance of a mix-up. A quick Google says the Cylert dosages are all different colors (18.75 mg pills are white, but 37.5 mg should be orange). Something's amiss at your pharmacy, either in the dispensing, the labeling, or the lack of patient instruction. I would've been canned on the spot if I'd made one of those mistakes. Give 'em hell, Loris.

Aw, no fair. Come out of that anonymity closet and 'fess up -- which chapter is yours? (I'm Chapter 23 and damn proud of all the sins I committed, hee hee.)

Re your link on the Newfoundlanders: many Canadians know them as the "Blue Puttees." You might like Great Big Sea's version, "The Recruiting Sergeant." Can't find a link to the mp3, but the lyrics and story are at http://www.wtv-zone.com/phyrst/audio/nfld/04/recruit.htm
