It is a lot easier to pretend you didn't know things were going to
be bad than it is to take precautions for the possibility. If you
prepare ahead and nothing happens, people get angry; if you don't,
you can use the disaster to make yourself look like a triumphant
hero (not that I think that ploy is really working, here). It's
typical - and sick.
What I want to know is why we have the stupid rainbow of
"alertness" that gets jogged around, and "higher security" is put
in place for advanced warning, but an act of nature (which is
entirely unpredictable) gets zilch. Please, explain the logic of
that to me, because I don't get it.
